The Man Behind The Music

DJ & Radio Host
DJ GospelKid — born Clive Broughton in 1967, and known throughout the years as Clive Rare Groove B and Clivey B — first made his name as a respected secular DJ before becoming one of the UK's leading gospel music DJs and radio personalities. Raised in a Jamaican household where music was ever‑present, he grew up surrounded by the rich sounds of reggae, soul, and classic Caribbean rhythms his father played daily. Those early influences not only shaped his craft behind the decks, but also ignited a lifelong passion for sound, culture, and the unifying power of music.
At just 14, Clive was immersed in London's vibrant sound‑system scene, attending iconic reggae boat parties along the River Thames with his father. Watching crowds move in unison to the beat sparked an early understanding of music's ability to uplift, connect, and transform — a force that would later define his journey as a DJ.
In 1997, Clive gave his life to Christ, a pivotal moment that deepened his purpose while keeping his love for music firmly at the centre. Still passionate about creating joyful, uplifting atmospheres, he naturally transitioned toward gospel music, blending his faith with the rhythmic foundations of reggae and the soulful grooves he grew up with.
His early DJ career saw him perform alongside some of the UK's most influential names, including Trevor Nelson, BBC 1Xtra, Jazzy B, Soul II Soul, and many others at exclusive warehouse parties throughout the early '90s. These formative years shaped his versatility and cemented his reputation as a dynamic, soulful, and authentic DJ.
Today, as DJ GospelKid, he continues to elevate gospel music to new heights — fusing gospel house, afro‑gospel, contemporary praise, soulful worship, and the timeless pulse of reggae into a sound that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Based in the United Kingdom, he hosts The Gospel Train, a flagship radio programme broadcast every Saturday morning from 7AM to 10AM UK time. With over 50,000 weekly listeners across the UK and the global diaspora, the show has become a spiritual institution, delivering three hours of uplifting music, inspiration, and praise.
Beyond radio, DJ GospelKid brings his signature sound to private events, corporate functions, festivals, birthdays, and international stages across London, the UK, France, and beyond. Celebrated for his love of all genres and his ability to read and elevate any crowd, he delivers joy, energy, and spiritual uplift everywhere he plays.
Guided by culture, grounded in faith, and driven by a lifelong love of music, DJ GospelKid lives by a timeless truth: “One good thing about music — when it hits you, you feel no pain.” — Bob Marley
